Click HERE and select the "GERMAN SHORTHAIR POINTER Episode!

TannerTanner is a nearly 11 year old German Short Hair Pointer. He is the primary demo dog for MYTDOG™ and is most likely to be seen around town with his owner and trainer Susan Barnes.

Tanner has been competing on the DockDogs™ circuit for several years, his personal best jump in competition is 24’6” (measured from where his tail meets his spine)! DockDogs™ is a canine sport that challenges both dog and handler. Training Tanner for competition focused on good sit stays, and down stays, building his drive and enthusiasm for fetching the ‘toy’. Training for the handler, Sue Barnes, included throwing, placement of the dog, and overall handling skills to get the best results.  Both Sue and Tanner have proven their success as a team as they took home all of their awards in 2007!

Tanner is bred from field trial lines and has trained and competed in horseback field trials as well as proven his worth in the field during hunting season. A versatile dog that excels at any activity, he has traveled across the country to attend and/or conduct training seminars, conferences and numerous dog competitions. Ranging from Dog Bite Prevention for kids, to agility seminars in NJ, and a winning multiple Mutt Race competitions in Dubuque, IA.

"Lucky" Lucky Boy Von Heidelshow

LuckyLucky is a nearly 11 year old German Short Hair Pointer. He is the second demo dog for MYTDOG™ sometimes you can spot him around town with owner and Trainer Sue Barnes.

Lucky started obedience training in 2003, for a dog with a ton of energy (and probably a little Attention Deficit Disorder!) who used to be afraid of strangers completing this task was a huge accomplishment. Training obedience with Lucky took a lot of dedication, time, and patience. Building his confidence and socializing him with strangers was just the beginning. Trying to communicate with him in a way that allowed for him to focus on commands (tough to do through his neurotic spinning!) was the real challenge. In the end the training and commitment to working through challenges earned Lucky his CD.

Lucky is bred from Dual Champion lines, but his heart has never been in hunting. Aside from obedience Lucky is a fetching machine, who has found a new thrill in DockDogs™. Lucky was handled by Kris Rose last year on the DockDogs™ circuit, achieving his Novice Title. View more photos of Lucky.

"Dudie"  Suzie's Fineline

Dude is responsible for our passion for the GSP.  In 1996, Dude opened my eyes to the world of bird dogs, hunting and field trialing. She was "picked" from the litter by my Rottweiler Bria, and it proved to be a match made in heaven.  Dude has done several activities from dog bite education, to mutt races, hunting, field trials and just being a good ole couch potatoe.  She has an impecible temperment that makes her loved by all.  She is helpful in the training of our Fast Track clients (those that board and train) as she "proofs" their skills by tossing toys and teaching them the ropes in our home!

MUTT RACE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
2001 Medium Divison, 3rd place
2002 Medium Division, Champion
2004 Medium Division, Champion
2005 Medium Division, 2nd

"Vi" Buckville's Higtailing Vilula

Vi.Vilula, is a German Short Hair Pointer that is over 11yrs old. Vilula is a dog born to hunt.  She has competed in horseback field trials and loves to be out in the field. Vi’s most treasured event was in Michigan when she finished first in a 4 point major, open gun dog stake.  Retired from the competition field, she spent 3 winters in Sunny South Carolina on Turkey Hill Plantation, guiding hunters on quail hunts.  With nearly 3000 quail shot over her, she was a veteran and valued member of the "Checkmate" string of dogs.

Retired from hunting Vi is now spending her time as a side kick and companion out on the farm where she enjoys helping feed calves, taking her daily run in the field and lounging on an occasional couch! View more photos of Vi.
