Susan Barnes and Tanner                                                                                     5th Year Team MYTDOG

2008 Dockdogs National Champion (Veteran)  2007 Dockdogs National Champion (Master & Veteran)

Our TEAM would not be complete without the spokesdog and leader of TEAM MYTDOG™,Tanner!

Sue and Tanner started their Dock Dog career in 2005 by competing in their first and only event that year, which was help in their home town (at that time), Dubuque Iowa. This event would prove to be the beginning of a passion that we were blessed to experience on an even greater level in 2007!

Tanner is a 9 year old German Shorthair Pointer that has made a name for himself on the National Dock Dogs circuit. Here are some of Tanner and Sue's accomplishments:

  • 2008 Earned an Invite and competed at the dockdogs World Championships

  • 2007 and 2008 Dockdogs National Champion Veteran Division

  • 2007 Dockdogs National Champion Master Division

  • 2007 and 2008 Gracie Award Recipient

  • Appeared on 3 episodes of the 2007 Outdoor Channel "Dockdogs" series.

  • 2007 Outdoor Channel Championships 3rd Place Master Division.

  • 2008 Sue was selected as Dockdogs Sportsperson of the Year by her fello dockdogs world competitors.  (2007 Sue was Nominated for Sportsperson of the Year)

  • Qualified for the Pro finals in EVERY season event 2006 and 2007 and 2008.

  • Finished in the Top 7 in every season Pro Final, 2006 and 2007 and 2008

  • Has a Personal Best jump of 24' 2" in National Events and 25' 2" in Regional events.

We hope that 2009 continues to bless us with consistency and success. In June Tanner will turn years old and be in his third year as a veteran jumper. With the skill and athleticism of up and coming dogs much younger, we only hope that Tanner will continue to show crowds that a dogs age is not a hurdle to success......and that that fun is always going to be our greatest reward! Our goal for the season is to again be in the top 100 dogs in the world, rank in the top 5 GSP's, and to be in the top 3 veteran dogs of 2009! Some lofty goals, but hey, why not shoot for the stars? Tanner jumps for them!

Kris Rose and Lucky                                                                                              4th Year Team MYTDOG

2007 7th Place, Dockdogs National Championship (Novice)

LuckyKris and Lucky gave Big Air a try for the first time in 2006 at the Roger's, MN event. Lucky didn't jump in competition but got up on the dock to try it out with his motivational cheerleader Kris. Needless to say, this pair are quite the clowns and had the crowds rolling with there antics on the dock. Lucky pulled a couple fast ones with Kris while she tried every trick in the book to help him figure out how to get off the dock and into the pool but he finally put it together and "tip-toed" in! (Check out the photos! You can see this twosome in action at this link: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=MYTDOG )

Lucky seems a little more motivated to take the plunge from that high dock into the water for his favorite ...a stick, but he occasionally wants his "Wubba" or Tennis ball. This team is going to be one to watch if you want to see what we mean when we say this sport is fun and entertaining!

Lucky turned 10 in January of 2009 and is considered a veteran dog by Dock Dogs standards. We just hope that he has a good time this season, gives the crowds something to smile about and that he improves at every opportunity!

Lucky made his first ever appearance at the National Championships in 2007! We were very proud of him being willing to jump into that 47 degree water when many dogs woudn't!  He gave the crowd lots to cheer about as he nearly set a NEW WORLD record, (missing it only by 1 inch) for the SHORTEST jump on record at 2"!  But he turned around and stretched it out enough to secure a 7th place finish overall in the Novice Division!

In 2008, he showed that he could finally "stretch out" and jumped a personal best 8' + for Kris.....you would have thought he just won the world championships, we were so proud!

In 2009, On thing is for sure.....Lucky will continue to sing to the crowd and let them know how much he loves this sport and competing with Kris!

Chuck Ross and Loki (Lab)                                                                                    3rd Year on Team MYTDOG

2007 12th Dockdogs National Championship (Senior)

Mike Hoefing & Murphy (Vizsla)                                                                             3rd Year Team MYTDOG

2007 8th Dockdogs National Champ. (Novice)

Josh Sinclair and Joseph ( GSP-Lab mix)                                                            3rd Year Team MYTDOG

Joseph, 3 years old - male - loves his frisbee, tennis balls, swimming, catching frogs around the pond, having fun.

Joseph's been involved in DockDogs for just over 2 years now.  His owner and handler, Josh, got him involved when he discovered just how much Joseph loved the water and loved to jump.  The sport helped to harness his energy into a positive and fun activity.  Already Joseph has won some ribbons and continues to jump huge during practice but is still feeling his way during the actual competitions.  Hopefully 2009 will be a turning point in which he's able to block out distractions while on the dock, and just go BIG!

Joseph also lo ves to catch his frisbee, go on walks (more like runs), and he really enjoys camping with Josh and his family.  So far Joseph's best jump is 15ft 9inches.  Hopefully he'll improve upon that distance this year and continue to have a ton of fun.  When his handler (Josh) isn't busy having fun/training Joseph, he's busy performing and touring with his band, HOLLYWOOD BURNOUT, as the guitarist and lead singer.  Check them out at:

Sean McCarthy and Jordan (Choc Lab)                                                                 2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

2008 Dockdogs World Champion - Speed retrieve (and world record Holder)                 2008 Dockdogs National Champion - Speed retrieve

Sean McCarthy & Jordan are in their second year with the sport of Dockdogs. Sean works at Culligan of Coralville and lives in Coralville, IA. Jordan is Sean's 4th dog and his first Lab. All of his other dogs were Dachshunds. After his last dachshund passed away in March of 2007, he decided to get a dog that would be a change, so he decided to get a Chocolate Lab for his birthday in April of 2007. After some searching he found Jordan in Fairfield, IA. Jordan was born on 4/17/07, her Mother is Godiva, and her Father is Chip, both chocolate Labs. The first time Sean took Jordan to the dog park she jumped right into the pond and started swimming around. As Jordan grew he noticed that when they would play at the pond, she would jump into the water as far as she could off of the bank, rather than just run into the water. Sean and Jordan met Team MYTDOG at the K9 Splash in Cedar Rapids, IA in August of 2007, and they have been hooked since then.

The follow picture is of Sean and Jordan at their first World Championship event in Stillwater, MN in July of 2008. Jordan is the World Record Holder in Speed Retrieve (4.6 seconds) and the 2008 World and National Champion in Speed Retrieve.  She came in 4th place at 2008 Worlds in Iron Dog.  Jordan also competes in Discdogs and is in training for agility.  They look forward to a great year and hope to meet many more great people and dogs!

Nate Dahlen & Zoe (Mix)
2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

This will be Zoe and I's second full season of DockDogs.  Zoe is a 4.5 year old English Springer Spaniel/German Sheppard mix, who loves to play fetch at any time.  She loves to fetch anything but goes especially crazy for her orange bumper that we use for DD.

Zoe and I started in the sport after trying it once at the Sportsmans Warehouse event 2 years ago, and we have become completely addicted.  We attended nationals for the first time last year and Zoe jumped a personal best of 15'9''.

When Zoe and I are not on the Dock you can catch me training for my first triathlon that I will be running in June, and Zoe has a very important role in this training, she is my running partner.  There are days where I do not want to do anything but she inspires me to get up and run.  So thank you Zoe.

We are looking forward to our second season with Team MYTDOG!!

Leesa Sample & Arden (Westie)
2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Arden is a 3 year old Westie joining Team MyTDog for her second DockDog year building on her accomplishments from last year. Arden learned she loved to swim (no lifejacket need), had great toy drive (has multiples toys in her bag to keep the action lively) and had no issues with getting down and dirty when ever possible.

Her accomplishments at events were totally for the crowd, full 90 seconds class one act entertainment for the crowd with her handler cheering all the time. Finding every available option to get her toy without jumping off the dock; going under the gates, barking at her handler and standing on the dock in a full rainstorm.

Arden enjoys traveling with the team, supporting and interacting with the crowd. This year her goal is to drive the crowd wild as she gets a few inches off the dock under tail.

Jen and Riley
2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Riley and I are technically in our second season of Dock Dogs but first full season of competing.  Riley is a 6 year old female Golden Retriever that can't stand to see water and not be in it.  She is a ball fanatic and you will rarely see her without one in her mouth.  Put the two together and they add up to dock diving!  I had always seen Dock Dogs on t.v. and thought how cool it would be to be able to do that, but of course nothing like that ever happens in Iowa!  It so happened that Sue brought one of our clients' dogs into the vet clinic I work at and we happened onto the subject that she trains for Dock Dogs.  I was SO excited and immediately joined the team for the remaining part of last year.  Riley is not a great jumper but she LOVES it and that is all that matters to me.  As long we have fun doing it I don't care if she ever gets a title or wins anything.  Our personal best was 10 feet last year on her final jump that knocked her out of the novice finals but I was so proud of her that it was hard to be disappointed with her.  It has been fun getting to know all the other team members and it has become more than just a sport that Riley and I compete in, we are part of a great team that knows how to have a good time!

Andie Hoefing and Murphy (Vizsla)                                                                      2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Nancy Ross & Cori (Lab)                                                                                       2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Brad Evoniuk and Brody (Lab)                                                                              2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Jessie Evoniuk and Roscoe (Newfoundland)                                                       2nd Year on Team MYTDOG (Roscoe's first year)

Todd Howell & Fuse (GSP)                                                                                    2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

FuseFuse was born on August 7, 2005. People ask me why I named him Fuse. His paper name is Howell's Ditch Parrot Dynamite. Once I tell them ditch parrot is slang for pheasant most people like it, and make the Fuse=Dynamite connection. I bought him from Paul Phipps at Boone Valley Kennels. I wanted a dog with a strong natural retrieve and boy did I get it. I think he would rather retrieve than eat. He loves running, retrieving, and water so Dock Dogs is a no-brainer. He jumped for the first time last year at the Sportsmans Classic and was hitting 16 feet by his third wave. I was pretty happy with that considering I had almost no control over him and he never got more than three steps in before he was airborne. If I can get a good sit/stay on him who knows how far he'll be able to jump.

Mandy Dahlen & Buddy (Lab mix)                                                                        2nd Year on Team MYTDOG

Leesa Sample and Quincy (Westie)                                                                 Quincy is a Rookie

Quincy is a 1 ½ year old Westie and joining Team MyTDog as a rookie. Quincy loves long walks, treats, chasing squirrels and hanging out with his family but looking for something new and different to increase his time in the great outdoors. He thinks DockDogs maybe that “something” that will really rock his world. He has a few things to figure out:

  1. Can he swim and does he like it?
  2. Does enjoy any toy enough to chase after it more than once?

One thing he is sure of, enjoys and its right up his alley; a little friendly competition against his buddy Arden.

Brooke Payton & Cody (Cattle dog mix)                                                                      Rookie Team MYTDOG members

Cody is a 2 year old cattle dog mix.  Cody's DNA test says he is also mixed with Alaskan Malamute and Bernese Mountain dog.

Tamara Alexander and Deke (Chesapeake Bay Retriever)                               Rookie Team MYTDOG members

This is Deke is a four year old Chesapeake bay retriever.  Our first competition was at Pheasants forever, and we had a great time. This is our  first full  season competing in Dock Dogs. We are looking forward to participating in an activity that we both enjoy every time and can't wait for the next to get here!!

In many ways beyond how we got her and her color the name Angel fits this girl well...she is a gentle dog who loves people and other dogs and will spend any amount of time snuggled up against me or any warm body she finds.....the only time she is not so nice to other dogs is when she is dining.....she loves her food.....Angel goes to Downtown Doggie Day Care a few days a week with Marks dog "Max" a Field Spaniel and my oldest daughters "Gracie" a German Short Hair and her best friend......Angel loves to socialize!!!!!...She now thinks she is big Sissy or Mama to my middle daughters Black lab Pup "Hunter"......I am happy for Angel and myself  to have found MyTDogs doc jumping school and even if we do not become big time competitors I am thrilled for her that she has the opportunity to get in the water and spend time doing what she loves.....
