Susan Barnes and our Tanner

Our TEAM would not be complete without the spokesdog and leader of TEAM MYTDOG™,Tanner!

Sue and Tanner started their Dock Dog career in 2005 by competing in their first and only event that year, which was help in their home town (at that time), Dubuque Iowa. This event would prove to be the beginning of a passion that we were blessed to experience on an even greater level in 2007!

Tanner is a 9 year old German Shorthair Pointer that has made a name for himself on the National Dock Dogs circuit. Here are some of Tanner and Sue's accomplishments:

  • 2007 Dockdogs National Champion Master Division

  • 2007 Dockdogs National Champion Veteran Division

  • 2007 Gracie Award Recipient

  • Appeared on 3 episodes of the 2007 Outdoor Channel "Dockdogs" series.

  • 2007 Outdoor Channel Championships 3rd Place Master Division.

  • 2007 Sue was Nominated for Sportsperson of the Year by National Dockdogs competitors.

  • Qualified for the Pro finals in EVERY event 2006 and 2007.

  • Finished in the Top 7 in every Pro Final, 2006 and 2007

  • Ranked in the top 40 dogs overall in the National Dock Dogs Rankings with a jump average of 22' 9" (2006 and 2007) .

  • Has a Personal Best jump of 24' 2" in National Events and 25' 2" in Regional events.

  • #1 Ranked German Shorthair Pointer, Dock Dogs National Rankings (US, Canada and the UK) in 2006 and 2007

  • #1 Dock Jumping dog in IOWA, 2006 and 2007

We hope that 2008 continues to bless us with consistency and success. In June Tanner will turn 9 years old and be in his second year as a veteran jumper. With the skill and athleticism of up and coming dogs much younger, we only hope that Tanner will continue to show crowds that a dogs age is not a hurdle to success......and that that fun is always going to be our greatest reward! Our goal for the season is to again be in the top 50 dogs in the country, rank in the top 5 GSP's, and to be in the top 3 veteran dogs of 2008! Some lofty goals, but hey, why not shoot for the stars? Tanner jumps for them!

Kris Rose and Lucky

LuckyKris and Lucky gave Big Air a try for the first time in 2006 at the Roger's, MN event. Lucky didn't jump in competition but got up on the dock to try it out with his motivational cheerleader Kris. Needless to say, this pair are quite the clowns and had the crowds rolling with there antics on the dock. Lucky pulled a couple fast ones with Kris while she tried every trick in the book to help him figure out how to get off the dock and into the pool but he finally put it together and "tip-toed" in! (Check out the photos! You can see this twosome in action at this link: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=MYTDOG )

Lucky seems a little more motivated to take the plunge from that high dock into the water for his favorite ...a stick, but he occasionally wants his "Wubba" or Tennis ball. This team is going to be one to watch if you want to see what we mean when we say this sport is fun and entertaining!

Lucky turned 9 in January of 2008 and is considered a veteran dog by Dock Dogs standards. We just hope that he has a good time this season, gives the crowds something to smile about and that he improves at every opportunity!

Lucky made his first ever appearance at the National Championships in 2007! We were very proud of him being willing to jump into that 47 degree water when many dogs woudn't!  He gave the crowd lots to cheer about as he nearly set a NEW WORLD record, (missing it only by 1 inch) for the SHORTEST jump on record at 2"!  But he turned around and stretched it out enough to secure a 7th place finish overall in the Novice Division!

in 2008, On thing is for sure.....Lucky will continue to sing to the crowd and let them know how much he loves this sport and competing with Kris!

Maria Mills & Alexys (Newfoundland)
Rookie Team competing in their first season.

"We found Alexys through a breeder when she was almost 5 months old. She was the biggest of the bunch and still growing. She likes to lay on her back and act like a cat that is playing with a ball of string. We are going to start with trying for big air and going to work from there. We are excited about joining for something fun for Alexys and myself to do this season. Alexys likes to play fetch when she wants to play."

Nate Dahlen & Zoe (Mix)
Competed in one event last year.

Zoe has the good fortune of having "pool" experience thanks to "grandma and grandpa's" pool. Zoe has loved water since she was a little pup. Zoe's enthusiasm for the water led Nathan and Zoe to give Dockdogs a try in 2007 at Club 3D's event at Sportsman's warehouse where her best jump was 11'10"! We look forward to watching Zoe develop and improve in 2008!

Mandy Dahlen & Buddy (Lab mix)
Rookie team in their first season

Nancy Ross & Cori (Lab)
Not only are Nancy and Chuck a husband and wife team, but Cori and Loki are a father daughter team. That's right, little Cori has some big 'paws' to fill. Nancy and Cori are a rookie team in their first season, Cori will start the season at just about 6 months or age.

Chuck Ross and Loki (Lab)

Loki has a Senior Title and finished 12th over 50 other Senior Titled at the 2007 National Championships. Chuck and Loki competed in 8 events last year and successfully jumped their way into the finals 7 times.

"Our first Dock Dogs event was in Aug 2006, in Osh Kosh, WI. Loki jumped 19'2" his first jump. Loki enjoys bird hunting in the fall."

Stacy Dietch & Daisy (Y Lab)

DaisyThis team competed in their first and only event last year where they set a personal best of 7'6".

"I adopted Daisy at 7 weeks. We participated in numerous obedience and training classes. She received her nickname 'Crazy' at 9 weeks of age. She is full of energy and loves the water. She sees water and starts dragging me towards it."

Leesa Sample & Arden (Westie)
Rookie team in their first season

Leesa and Arden took a dock diving seminar with MYTDOG in 2006, but never competed in an event. They return this season for some refresher training and the goal of competing.

Todd Howell & Fuse (GSP)

FuseFuse was born on August 7, 2005. People ask me why I named him Fuse. His paper name is Howell's Ditch Parrot Dynamite. Once I tell them ditch parrot is slang for pheasant most people like it, and make the Fuse=Dynamite connection. I bought him from Paul Phipps at Boone Valley Kennels. I wanted a dog with a strong natural retrieve and boy did I get it. I think he would rather retrieve than eat. He loves running, retrieving, and water so Dock Dogs is a no-brainer. He jumped for the first time last year at the Sportsmans Classic and was hitting 16 feet by his third wave. I was pretty happy with that considering I had almost no control over him and he never got more than three steps in before he was airborne. If I can get a good sit/stay on him who knows how far he'll be able to jump.

Andie Hoefing and Murphy (Vizsla)

Andie is 8 years old and a youth handler.  This is Andie's second year as a competitors and does a fantastic job on the dock with her Vizsla, Murphy (who she has to share with her dad, Mike).  In 2007, Andie made appearances in Regional event finals in Rockford and made all of us on TEAM MYTDOG very proud with her positive attitude and encouragement of Murphy. This is one kid that has some pretty cool things to tell her friends about and show them with the several medals and ribbons she and Murphy have accumulated!

Mike Hoefing & Murphy (Vizsla)

Murphy has his Novice Title and competed in the 2007 National Championships. His personal best at a National Event is 8'11", and 16'3" at a Regional Event.

Roberta Melone and Layla (Lab)

LaylaLayla was born June 15th, 2004 and came to be in my life in September 2005. What luck for me!! She is a wonderful, loving and very energetic girl. She sure is true to her breed when it comes to her love of retrieving and love of the water. Layla and I participated in the "Fun Jump" at Sportsmen's last summer and we both very much enjoyed it. That is when I decided to register her with Team MYTDOG and give dock jumping a real try. We are both looking forward to it.

Jessie Evoniuk and Bille (Newfoundland)
This is a rookie team in their first season. Billie is a rescue who is what we fondly refer to a as a 'mini' newfie, she's 3yrs old and not as big as one might expect. She's very sweet and until her owners give us a bio, I'm taking the liberty to ramble about their very sweet long tongued four legged friend.

Brad Evoniuk and Brody (Lab)
Brad and Jessie are another husband and wife team this year. This rookie team is in their first season and they are really excited to put all their new skills to test on the dock.

Rose and Dan Sloven and Jazmine (border collie)
Rookie teams in their first season

Dave and Mary Schaefer-Losure and Nicci
Rookie Teams in their first season

Sean McCarthy and Jordan
Rookie team in their first season

JordanSean McCarthy & Jordan are new to the sport of Dockdogs. Sean works at Culligan of Coralville and lives in Coralville, IA. He lived in Columbus, OH for 16 years before moving back to Iowa in Oct. of 2006, to take over the family business, running the Culligan Store. Jordan is Sean's 4th dog and his first Lab. All of his other dogs were Dachshunds. After his last dachshund passed away in March of 2007, he decided to get a dog that would be a change, so he decided to get a Chocolate Lab for his birthday in April of 2007. After some searching he found Jordan in Fairfield, IA. Jordan was born on 4/17/07, her Mother is Godiva, and her Father is Chip, both chocolate Labs. The first time Sean took Jordan to the dog park she jumped right into the pond and started swimming around. As Jordan grew he noticed that when they would play at the pond, she would jump into the water as far as she could off of the bank, rather than just run into the water. She and Jordan met Team MYTDOG at the K9 Splash in Cedar Rapids, IA in August of 2007, and they have been hooked since then.

The follow picture is of Sean and Jordan at their first Dockdog event in Chicago in January 2008. Jordan is off to a great start in 2008 with several big finishes, her specialty currently being Speed Retrieve. They look forward to a great year and hope to meet many more great people and dogs!

Kari Stecher and Ari
Rookie Team in their first season

AriAri is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd with a ton of energy and a love for water. After getting to know Sue and learn more about DockDogs, I thought we'd give it a try. My family and I are looking forward to hanging out with our dogs & Team MYTDOG this season. Who knows, Ari just might jump off that dock!
